A fast-growing social sweepstakes casino wanted to scale up advertising spend across several channels, including Google Ads, Meta and Snapchat. The demand was there and the budget was there. The measurement wasn't.
They had browser conversion tracking only. They also knew, without being able to put a number on it, that a proportion of their conversions were never making it back to the ad platforms at all, lost to ad blockers and the other everyday failure modes of client-side tracking.
That's the real cost. Every conversion that fails to reach a platform makes the campaign look more expensive than it is, and gives the platform's optimisation less to learn from. Scaling spend on top of measurement you don't trust means scaling the error along with the budget.
We built a robust server-side tracking implementation using GTM Web and GTM Server, hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Events are collected in the browser, sent to a server container the client controls, and forwarded to each ad platform from there, out of reach of the things that break client-side tags.
Server-side tracking is not a set-and-forget build, though. It introduces infrastructure that can fail quietly, so we paired it with automated log analysis that alerts the team if anything looks wrong, rather than leaving them to discover it in a monthly report.

Results checked against each platform's own event reporting, so the uplift was verified in the tools the team actually makes decisions in.
Visible conversions increased significantly across the board. Sign-up visibility rose by over 100% according to Meta Events Manager measurements, meaning the platform was now seeing more than twice as many of the sign-ups that had been happening all along.
With that signal restored, the team could scale up and optimise far more effectively. Campaigns could be judged on what they actually delivered, budget decisions stopped being hedged against suspected under-reporting, and the platforms' own optimisation had a fuller picture to work from.
The lasting outcome is trust. The team now believes their conversion numbers, and the automated alerting means they'll know quickly if that ever stops being true.
